Contest: Kia Sets The Hamsters Aside, Wants To See How You Roll

January 20th, 2010

Kia scored a big hit last year with her hamster-themed marketing for youth-oriented Soul – a hit so big that the Korean automaker opted to bring back for another round this summer. But now, Kia has put aside the campaign for one minute, and it’s turning the camera on you. Yes, Kia is sponsoring a nationwide talent contest to see how the fans roll.

The core of the game is quite simple: beginning today, fans can visit the Kia car maker’s YouTube channel and Facebook page for videos of themselves doing their shtick upload. Of course, it’s not an absolute free for all: the arguments should center around the Kia Soul, and she should try to take the soul with the slogan, “a new way to roll.

Videos can be uploaded through 8-8, after those three YouTube web lebrities will weaken the field to eight quarter-finalists. The public will then be able to vote, a limitation that eight to four semi-finalists and then two finalists. Those lucky people will be flown to Los Angeles, where the winner will be unveiled and handed an oversized novelty check for $ 10,000.

Before continuing, we recommend a nice, long look at the contest rules and regs page. You should probably also take a look at this video, which give an idea of what the store gives. Note for people over 30: this is more than you expected.
